The Mid North Coast Tourism Newsletter, December 2011 (Issue 13)

A common catch cry for 2011 was "it's been a hard year". Equally, opportunities are still  to be recognised and nurtured as we enter 2012 alert and aware of  market changes and the needs of potential visitors, most who are seeking a new experience at a reasonable price. The State Government recognising the experiential push and aiming to increase the lure and competitiveness of regional NSW has allocated significant funds to recognise and grow exisitng and new tourism business throughout the state. Their aim is to double overnight visits to regional NSW by 2020. Mid North Coast Tourism working closely with Local Government Areas and the Legendary Pacific Coast echos that aim and will work toward steady and significant growth with the dedicated champions of our region.

NSW Premier Delivers Product Development Funds

NSW Premier Barry O’Farrell  last week presented a $250,000 cheque to Mid North Coast Tourism Organisation Chair, Ms Kathy Balodis to fund enhancement of nine (9) regional tourism products in 2012. Tough Sydney Foodies Judge Mid North Coast a Winner

The Mid North Coast won the Entree section of the inaugural CRAVE Sydney International Food Festival 100 Mile Challenge held at Eveleigh Markets in Sydney earlier this year. (pictured l to r Fiasco's Taz Huggins, Fiasco Owner, Stefano Mazzini, and Saltwater's Dustin Bowie Ford.

The winning dish was created and delivered by Stefano Mazzina from Fiasco Ristorante + Bar Coffs Harbour, Taz Huggins also from Fiasco, Dustin Bowie Ford from Saltwater Restaurant and Bar and Clayton Donovan from Jaaning Tree in Nambucca.

Mid North Coast Shines at the 2011 NSW Tourism Awards

North Coast Tourism Award finalists cleaned up at the 2011 NSW Tourism Awards taking home a total 19 Gold, Silver and Bronze awards across 14 major categories with a trifecta in the Deluxe Accommodation category and a Gold Award for the Legendary Pacific Coast only 12 months after its official launch. Bellingen based social networking specialist, Pantellis Roussakis has been working with Mid North Coast Tourism to maximise marketing and communications with the latest social networking strategies.

MNCRTO Executive Officer, Belinda Novicky with PR and Marketing Officer, Sonia Fingleton and The Legendary Pacific Coast’s, Kim MacDonald recently attended a social networking workshop with Pantellis to update and sharpen their communications skills.

New Coordinator and Campaign for Legendary Pacific Coast

 The Legendary Pacific Coast’s (TLPC) new Project Coordinator, Ms Kim MacDonald began her new role at the end of September and kicked off in November a $130,000 marketing campaign for three months until to February 2012.

Ms MacDonald joins the Legendary Pacific Coast from an award winning stint as Tourism Manager for Manning Valley Tourism which she led to victory in the 2011 North Coast Tourism Award winning Tourism Marketing gold for “The Manning Naturally” campaign.

Calling Board Members for the MNC Regional Fresh Food Network

The Mid North Coast Regional Fresh Food Network is seeking Expressions of Interest from individuals to serve on the Network’s inaugural board.

The board will steer the network’s future focused on key outcomes including building awareness for Mid North Coast food, beverage and Agritourism enterprises through specific marketing and promotions and education and networking for its members.

“We are seeking individuals directly or indirectly involved in the farming, food and beverage industries,” said coordinator, Sonia Fingleton.
